The 2023 Arinto dos Açores Sur Lies 2as Prensas from Azores Wine Company is a compelling expression of Pico&s volcanic terroir. Crafted exclusively from the second pressings of the indigenous Arinto dos Açores grape, this wine captures the essence of its oceanic environment. The second pressings, often overlooked, contribute additional skin contact, enhancing the wine&s salinity and texture without compromising its natural acidity. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using indigenous yeasts, with 35% in horizontal stainless steel vats and 65% in seasoned French oak barrels. The wine then matures for eight months on fine lees, without bâtonnage, resulting in a wine of remarkable purity and depth.

On the nose, the wine presents a clean citrus-straw color, offering fresh, pure, and mineral aromas with a touch of grapefruit. The palate is sharp, fresh, and mineral, teasing the senses and reflecting its ocean-born origin.
